This is such an interesting question Annelise. I agree that I like to use my brain as well and would not want a machine tell me everything about my life. Especially not food I should eat it is good to explore ourselves, be creative and think outside of the box. I love the questions you have raised in this article. I think it is important at least for me to be challenged but not replace my choices in what AI recommends. Human thinking is essential part of us, I do worry about laziness and how AI will effect our children in the future, their brain development.

Thanks for this exercise, @Annelise ! I think the trick is to use AI as an assistant, in triggering our brains to think more and create, instead of copying and waiting for answers. AI will be here forever and will continue to develop. Maybe the key is how we live with it. It is our choice. AI shouldn't make life "convenient" so that our brains devolve (is this the antonym for evolve?), but it should be a tool for our development in an exponential sort of way.

I often wonder too.. I don't reckon the brain can truly fall asleep as it attends to more tasks even when we 'shut down' and become unconscious for a time but it's quite evident that it would be counterproductive to our development as a species if our brains become dormant.. A world where instant gratification is at the center of everything, where we get all we want at the snap of a finger doesn't encourage any creativity or originality..

I don't even write my poems on devices.. I've always done it with pen and paper because there's just something about that connection, same with hard cover books.. Using our brains has more advantages than not using it.. After all, a human brain was involved in most of the inventions that have gotten us to where we are. It's an interesting one, thanks for sharing :)

Beautiful Frank, yes there is something different about it when we write on paper. I think we enjoy things we work for a craft or art we create. Thank you fro sharing your thoughts.

Thank you, Frank! I think nowadays we tend to write a lot less with pen on paper 😟 It’s sad, if we think about it. I still do it when studying for some courses, it helps me assimilate the material in a better way. I will try to write my poems more with pen from now on, though… I haven’t really thought of handwriting much lately. I’ve been typing away a lot.

This reminds me that I wrote 7 diaries by hand when I was in highschool. It was a beautiful way of expressing mysef slowly, mindfully.

Oh wow.. that's cool too, do you still have them? My form of diary writing was poetry, I tried writing normal diary entries, didn't always work out 😂. I would write poems about certain experiences and sometimes just sift through myself and write what came spilling out.. I still have those early collections and I think it is a beautiful thing to sometimes sit and look through some of those memories :)

I do worry about this too! I don’t really use AI as I prefer to use my own creativity to write & take photos as well as cook and create in the kitchen. I want my brain to remain active! 💕

I feel the same way Trista, I like my brain working and creating.

I would think that our brain would try to get faster, in order to keep up with AI.

That is very interesting Warren so do you think AI might stimulate and unlock potentials in our brain we have not used yet?

Hi Gabriella. Yes, I believe that most of humanity does not use the full potential of brain power. It has been compared to the tip of an iceberg.

I have always wanted to write as fast as I think. This has not always been possible, but it is a challenge that I enjoy.

AI is faster than humans, even the smartest ones. We can all make an attempt to develop our brain power. AI is here as a tool to help us with our imagination and creativity, as well as in other fields, where it is making a big difference.

Humans will not be replaced by AI, but they will be replaced by other humans who have learned to work with AI. The possibilities are endless, for us to increase our creativity, imagination and brainpower, by working with AI. I may never be able to challenge AI to a writing competition, but at least I can develop my work by using AI as a research tool and aid for developing as a writer in the future. The future is AI and it is for those who are interested to train it like they would a wild stallion. These are my thoughts for the future with AI, as an instrument, to develop my mind power.

Remember when we used real phones and had to know everyone’s phone number, and then mobiles came and they do the remembering for us? I think a part of each of our brains died because of that lack of exercise. Use it or lose it. You’re right.

I know Maryan we had to know the important numbers, now I just know a few that are closest to me and I do think about it sometime that it would be good to learn more numbers. On the other hand we had to learn a lot of new things how to use our phones, computers and technology in general that we did not have before.

It is evolution in action. If the use of AI allows us to have superhuman abilities - like simply asking Siri for the best route to the emergency room instead of getting stuck in traffic - then those who use technology wisely will be more effective in life, more productive, live longer and have a higher quality of life than those who don’t. We have free will. If we want to find challenges in cogitation and creativity, we will. If we want to use AI and similar technology for things beyond our human capacity that’s fine. We can use our human abilities to do human stuff like fall in love and cuddle a child or work out the best way to put a smile on a friend's face.

That is very true Britni, yet sometimes google gives me not the best route or sends me somewhere where the road is closed. I think we have to use both, a combination. For example I do not like when based on a movie I watched the algorithm thinks I only want to watch similar movies in the future or because I looked an item online that I will want to keep looking the same and similar items to buy in the future and it is showing me the same even after I bought something. It is important to get the input from technology and AI and also use our critical thinking skills what is beneficial for us and what is not. I would love if we can spend more time on “human “ things to do only if that benefits all humanity.

Sometimes AI gives incorrect information. Sure. But you ever listen to that genius Trump? He's not even in the same ballpark as Google.

Thanks for sharing this, it is important to know the limits and not to go overboard. However, it is convenient and great to have a smart home. I would just have it handle the curtains, lights, kettle, doors, windows, etc. Physical stuff, not so much conversations, etc. In business yes, but not in my personal life.

It can be very interesting to use AI for different things in a home, personally I do not want AI in my home and doing tasks for me.
