At Dancing Elephants Press, we’re going to spend time talking about empowerment. In and of itself, it’s a powerful word. However, one of the things it implies most is a decision. The question is, what decision?
Every Tuesday, I’ve asked my friend, DR Rawson, to focus on business related to our focus, empowerment. Over the next few weeks, we’ll look at business from a different perspective, his.
If you have a question you would like him to address in the future, please leave it in the comments.
Thanks for reading,

Five Things to Consider - Part 1
Begin with the end in mind.
Often times we get excited about the possibilities of starting or owning a business. The right first question is for what purpose? So many businesses fail because they lack vision. Running a business isn’t easy or for the faint of heart. However, if you don’t have a road map you’ll never get to a destination
My First Business - You’ll Never Forget Your First:
When I was approached to go to Florida and represent ten manufacturers, I knew one thing, I needed to work. Six months earlier I had returned from Vietnam and 3 days before they offered me the opportunity one of those ten men’s oldest sons had fired me. So, I needed a job. After one week of being in Florida, I knew I would sell the first chance I had and worked towards that goal.
So, in a way, when I started my first company, I knew what I wanted, to get back to California with my family.
My career
I’m presently building my thirtieth company, TinyTales.Press, Children’s books and education. Our goal is to sell the company by the end of 2025. Make no mistake, we will. Also, full disclosure, Dr. Gabriella Kőrösi and I are also building another business that’s in the planning stages (#29).
I learned that I’m happy building, not maintaining them. So, I have and you’ll need to understand who you are. Do you want to build it and sell it or are you someone that wants to build it and build it and stay with it for as long as possible. Perhaps you’ll go public, or sell it sometime in the distant future. Whatever it is, keep your eye on that goal. Everything you do should reflect that goal.
Now That You Know
Do you still want to start a business? If so, it might be beneficial for you to go through these five parts every Tuesday, right in your inbox.
Until next time…

Your experience shared here made me wonder what my goal is. What I want is to create something meaningful and become flexible, but do something with passion, like writing and connecting with people. But I've never created a business, so I don't know if I am good at building it or selling it later. I will read everything you share and start building my vision.
I love the business tips and sharing your experience with us DR. I think it is a very important step to know what is your plan with the business in the long run.
